Five reasons for choosing to train with a personal trainer

Nowadays there is a wide selection of gyms, sports subscriptions and sports packages. You can go to the various fitness clubs at any time of the day. The internet has a lot of information on how to train. Then why would you choose a personal trainer?

1. Program with a clear goal

Personal training is more than just training. With a personal trainer you achieve the goal that you want to achieve by exercising. A goal is for example getting stronger, getting fitter, losing weight or gain weight in a responsible way. Together with your personal trainer, you determine what helps or what poses a risk in achieving your specific goal. Your personal trainer not only guides you in sports, but also in choosing the right diet and lifestyle, to increase the chance that your goal is achieved.

2. Accountability

Do you recognize this? Full gyms in January and in February there is almost nobody at the gym anymore? The best way to stick to your intentions is to be accountable to someone else. If you work out together, chances are that you keep going. The same applies to training with a personal trainer. Your trainer helps you to hold on to your intentions, and can show you where you are progressing. As a result, the number of drop-outs in personal training is much lower than in the gym.

3. Preventing injuries

When you excercise (more), you automatically increase the chance of getting injuries. The way you train has a major impact on the risk of injury. A proper warming up and cooling down is important, that is common knowledge. A starting injury can go unnoticed when you do your exercises by yourself. A personal trainer is trained to pay attention to it. The personal trainer also provides variation in exercises. This helps to prevent injuries.

4. Variation in exercises

Variation in the exercises is, in addition to the prevention of injuries, important for another reason. The gym offers a fixed number of devices. You can vary in order or intensity, but in general you go through a series of exercises. This can become boring and you can lose your motivation. During a personal training we want to make sure the training stays fun and challenging by choosing variation. This way you also train different muscles in different ways. Win win!

5. More than just exercising with devices

A visit to the gym is often limited to a series of exercises with devices. That’s too bad. There are many other ways to train, but personal supervision is important. A visit to your personal trainer is a combination of a round if exercises at the gym, fitness classes, and if you dare, trail training!
